- Permanent resident of the US and Canada are eligible only if they have resided in the country for the past three years.
- Canadian and American citizens living outside of Canada or the United States or who have recently returned to either country are also eligible to apply.
Applicants may not be eligible if they:
- Are inadmissible to Canada or the United States under their respective immigration laws;
- Have been convicted of a serious criminal offence in any country for which they have not received a pardon
- Intentionally provide incomplete or false information on their applications or during the interview;
- Have been found in violation of immigration or customs law;
- Are not able to reside lawfully in the US or Canada for the duration of their NEXUS pass;
- Fail to meet additional requirements of the NEXUS program
Children eligibility
Children under 18 need the consent of a parent or legal guardian to apply for a NEXUS pass. At the interview they should be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian who will provide evidence of custody or legal guardianship. Children can apply for a NEXUS pass even if their parents or guardians are not NEXUS members.
