If you would like to cross the border for your family, it is essential that you obtain NEXUS passes for your children. All children under 18 need approval of a parent or legal guardian in order to apply for a NEXUS pass.
Border Crossing will processes NEXUS application forms for children free of charge ONLY IF they are accompanied by the application of a parent or another adult paying for the service. If you are applying for your child only, please follow this link.
How do I apply for my child?
There are just three steps you need to take in order to apply for your NEXUSpass with us:
Step 1: Click on the Print application button and fill out one application per applicant.
Step 2: Send the form via e-mail to: info@border-crossing.com or fax: (305) 675-0780. Please check your email (including your spam folder) for further instructions from us.
Children under 18 are processed for free if they are applying with at least one parent or guardian.
What happens next?
Once we receive your NEXUS pass application, we will assign your case to one of our agents. They will carefully check your application for consistence with CBP requirements. They will then create a profile for you in the government system and enter your data. Once your profile is complete, we will email you your ID and password so you can access your profile and finalize your application by paying the CBP fee with your credit card. When you receive a conditional approval notification, you will be able to schedule your interview at one of the NEXUS enrollment centers.
Children applying for a NEXUS pass have to attend an interview similar to that of adults. At the interview they need to be accompanied by their parent or guardian. At the interview, the parent or the authorized person has to provide documents proving they have the custodial right to take the child out of the country. All documents will be scrutinized by authorized NEXUS personnel.
Children can apply for a NEXUS pass even if their parents are not NEXUS pass holders. In case you share the custody of your children, it is recommended that you carry copies of legal documents. Also, it is preferable to have a legal letter including the parents’ fill name, address and phone number stating that you can take the child on a trip out of the country. This letter is an official document confirming that the child is not taken against their will or abducted. If you are traveling with children, you will be asked questions about them at the border and your vehicle may be inspected carefully, as customs officers are very strict about abducted or missing children.
